Walkers Line Office Building

Burlington, Ontario, Canada

The 6-strorey structure for this project is primarily precast hollowcore slabs on a structural steel frame with masonry block for the elevator and stairwell core. The building required a finite element method (FEM) model due to torsional loading from the eccentric elevator and stairwell core. Seismic considerations were taken into account due to the location and soil conditions. The structure is supported on conventional shallow foundations. In addition, there were many canopies and exterior facade details to provide structural backing for, including sunshades for the south-east building face.
